The combination of three Malayalam words 'Moo' which stands for 'three', 'aaru' means river, and 'puzha' also means river, which makes up the name Muvattupuzha.

Muvattupuzha bridge (First Concrete Bridge in Asia)

The first concrete bridge in India is situated about 300 meters from Nehru park. The bridge was constructed during the regime of Maharaja Sreemoolam Thirunal in 1914, under the guidance of British engineer, VH Emarald. It connects the two parts of the Muvattupuzha, namely "Kacherithazham" (main centre of the town) with Velloorkunnam, Vazhappilly and Kadathy. It is said that after the bridge was constructed, the local people were too scared to use it. To convince them that the bridge is safe, the chief engineer and his family stood under the bridge on a boat as 15 elephants crossed over it.

St. Peter's & St. Paul's church

St. Peter's & St. Paul's church at Kadathy (near Amabalampady) was founded in 1875. After a century, the church was renovated and consecrated by the diocesan Metropolitan H.G. Mor Dionysius Thomas (the Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I)

Sree Kumara Bhajana Devaswom Temple

This temple is located 0.5km from Post Office Junction and Kacherithazham (Near SNDP Junction). It is famous for the Kumbha Pooya Mahotsavam, which is a 8 day temple festival conducted in February. The atmosphere in the Muvattupuzha Town is electrifying on the 6th day of the festival, with Kavadi and the elephant procession accompanied by pandimelam, chendamelam and sinkarimelam.

Thriveni

Thriveni is the center point of three rivers joining to form Muvattupuzha. In Thriveni, Kothamangalam river, Kaliyar and Thodupuzha rivers merge to form a single river. This is called Thriveni Sangamam' in Malayalam.

Puzhakkarakavu Devi Temple

This ancient Devi temple is situated near Thriveni Sangamam, at the confluence of three rivers (Kothamangalam, Kaliyar and Thodupuzha rivers). Chirappu Mahotsavam, the annual 10 day festival, of the temple is celebrated in December and concludes on the 26th December (Dhanu 11), which coincides with the 41st day of Mandala pooja festival. The final five days of celebration includes the colourful 'Ezhunnallipu' (procession) on 5 decorated elephants along with 'Thayambaka' or 'Pancha Vadyam '.

Vellorkunnam Maha Deva Temple

This temple situated in Vellorkunnam, at Nehru Park. Muvattupuzha Pakal Pooram is a popular festival in Central Kerala with elephants shows and Pakkamelam.

Kadamattom St.George's Orthodox Church

This church is one of the pilgrim centres in Kerala with a history of more than 1500 years. It is famous for the presence of Aabu father & Kadamattathu Kathanar.
